If you are in any of the affected areas of the hurricane, you must take the following precautions:
- Keep listening to the weather advisories that will warn you of the approaching storm.
- If a hurricane is approaching your area, please keep checking this website for information and guidance.
- If you are in the path of the storm, you must stock up on necessities ahead of time, including drinking water, canned food, flashlight, battery radio. Also fill your sinks with water in case the water supply is interrupted.
- It is very important that you follow all the instructions issued by the local authorities particularly as it relates to evacuation in case your area will suffer a direct hit from the hurricane.
- If you are told to evacuate, please do so immediately; do not wait for the last minute.
- If there is a mandatory evacuation, leave the area as instructed by the local authorities and check into a hotel in a safe area closest to your institution.
- You must also keep in touch with your Embassy adviser to provide current information on your whereabouts.
